Finally found something useful at local yard sale....



4X multiplier.... Max 250ft-lbs input, 1000ft-lbs output... 1/2 inch drive on input, 3/4 drive on output...

Should work nicely on all the big stuff (torque)...

Oh yeah... $10....

Very cool Dale! Any projected use for it or is it something that might have a use someday. I like the latter myself as it is more fun to get the surprise when it does come in handy. Wifie-poo sneers at that logic tough.

It was one of this "might need it someday" purchases... But for $10 who could pass it up....

Really got to appreciate my wife, she is " if you need it (want it), buy it".....

That's a real live made-in-USA tool that cost somebody huge bucks, don't treat it like a $10 tool.
They are selling for north of $250 on Ebay.
SNAP-ON lists the std one for $529...
Yours may be the anti-backlash version, I can't even find the price.
I'll give you $50 bucks now, deal? Instant profit!

Realized when I saw it what it was... And its NOT FOR SALE ..

But yes found 2 on ebray (same brand) one at $389 another at $430...

I kinda suspect a device that has a $10 consumable drive (shears at ~400 ft/lb) would be useless for anything but lug nuts.

1000lb, yeah.

For gland nuts and axle nuts a Torquemeister is still only $75.

This looks very interesting for $60 (and is rated for 3400 ft/lb) but would need modified to be generally useful, 1:58 gear ratio.
Again, almost certainly a Chinese copy of something.

There are similar units under $75 with potential, one has a splined body/sliding height adjustable loadbar one could probably attach something useful to, 1:68 gearing, would probably absolutely rock with an air ratchet attached.

(I have an old Ingersoll-Rand battery powered ratchet unit floating around somewhere, rewired for an external RC car battery it was awesome, would be perfect for this)

Have to agree in x2 (roughly) for lug nuts and such for the $50-75 range but for anything more I would shy away from them, probably not really good for axle nuts or gland nuts (get 9:1 dedicated unit?)....

For my road warrior setup (pickup truck with car carrier trailer and doing recovery), I just carry a 20 inch 1/2 drive breaker bar and a set of harbor fright impact sockets... Works really well over pissy little lug wrench Detroit supplies... Also carry one permanently (breaker bar, 6 inch extension, dedicated deep socket) in my Jeep for off road...

I was pretty glad to get X4 unit because I sometimes work on old mining machinery at local museum and some bolts and nuts have been in place for 50-75 (or more) years and some of the stuff is BIG and rusty too....
