That was assumed when you stated that it came out of a 411.
Marc wrote:Type IIIs used a full-automatic that was essentially the same (other than gear ratios and clutch disc count)...Type IV CVs are larger in diameter and thicker; if you want to use them on Type III axles you'll have to have their inner ball-cages ground thinner to fit on the shorter splines. Thing or 924/944 Porsche stub axles will fit in Type I IRS control arms and accept the larger CVs.
To use the smaller Type I/III CVs the final drive flanges on the transaxle will need to be replaced with ones from a Type III Auto.

Did you even read my post about the modifications required? Besides the different engine case used for the auto (as I mentioned, it is possible to whittle out enough from a "manual" case to be able to access the TC bolts - just), EastCoastOffRoad's trike is using a Type I rear torsion housing and frame horns - nearly all of that has to be whacked off and redone more like yours in order to fit a full automatic - he'd be better off starting from scratch and integrating the necessary subframing with the front.
You might also note that there was no need for you to fabricate driveshafts for yours, stock Type III auto shafts would've bolted right in.

The picture I posted above is a type3 fully-automatic it looks identical to a type4 auto.
Thanks

I was not questioning how much work it is, just his reply to my answer. It does take some determination and skill along with some tools, but I think it is worth it.
I hate side shifting trikes, I don't own one, I have worked on several including a 2500cc type1 that is totally useless power due to the side shifter.

I can see where a jockey-shift H-pattern could be difficult to operate (at least, if it was cobbled together as badly as one usually finds on homemade projects) but an AutoStick would only need to row through two positions, 1 for 0-45MPH and 2 for 45MPH up...the only time you'd need to engage L or R would be when you were stationary. Don't forget, the clutch works automatically - all in all it should be far easier to drive than an old tank (or jockey) -shift Harley.
