Poor guys Things - a mild couple of dual sports.

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

No doubt i will be be driving conservatively. I have ridden in a couple A arm cars but this is the first time behind the wheel.it does seem to have some body roll in the front. That may be from the light springs. It will definately be a learning curve to get used to. I can tell you that i took my dad for a ride this afternoon and tried the 0-60 function on my GPS speedo. I really didn't hammer it to hard but it pulled a 7.02. I thought that was respectable for a car with 33's. I am thinking that power steering will be a nice upgrade so I think i will start looking for a pump. That and lines and i am in business.

You may want to consider the electric assist steering. I love mine, it works really well.

It's not complicated, it's just expensive...

You drove it so now it's used.

Time to start cutting it up to make modifications!

Check out CBM's store on ebay. i paid 199 with free shipping for my sweet power-steering pump. The bracket I got from either howe or pacific customs, I dont rememeber. if you want to make the trek to Oceanside, Id let you borrow my bracket if you wanted to reverse-engineer it.

When is the maiden trip to OW? ;)
I don't always show my signature. But when I do, it's in this area.

Not sure just yet Dave, hoping to hit some dirt roads around here this weekend then start on the fender mounting.

Spent some time today playing with fenders. A couple weeks ago Clint picked up a set of Jeep J/K fenders from a dude on C/L.And then I picked up another set. I liked the look of the fronts on the rear and since we plan to make some scoops in them to direct air flow into the radiator the added size is a plus. Well, I have now doubt that in trying to keep up with DG,Clint will come up with some super feat of engineering but for us common folk I though I would try to make them work. So here are a couple pics of what I came up with. Keep in mind that there is still some trimming to do. My wife pointed out that the fronts hang too low so I plan to trim them up so that the bottoms are even with the rears. I also added a shade cloth roof. Anyway, here are a couple pics.

can you raise the front of the front fenders an inch or two? how is the clearance at full bump?

No way to move them up, but the overhang area will most likely get almost completely trimmed off. I'm sure the tires will rub, it's going to be a compromise. Higher fenders will limit front visibility.

They are flexible, that was a plus, that and the price. I still need to work over the mounting, going to put some reinforcement strips on the inside.

It's not a bad look.

Who da thunk it, Jeep parts on a VW

I kinda like em for what they are, I would spend a year and a half cutting them up and re shaping them....but you would be driving yours while I did that

Looks good, trim up and run em.
It is not Mickey Moused.....It's Desert Engineered!
