Mystery cam, scrap or keep?

Post by mattcfish »

Not stirring up much discussion on the boxer section so
I thought I'd try here. I've got a wasserboxer hydro cam that I know little about. I broke out the dial indicator and got these results.
Measured at .050 lift at cam

IO=9 BTDC
IC=43 ABDC
EO=35 BBDC
EC=3 ATDC
Overlap: 12.00 degrees
Intake Duration: 232.00 degrees
Exhaust Duration: 218.00 degrees
Intake Installed Centerline of 107.00 degrees ATDC.
Exhaust Installed Centerline of 106.00 degrees BTDC.
LSA=106.5
Lift .30
What characteristics will this have in a 2.2L wasserboxer
With stock EFI? Is that too much overlap? What are your thoughts
On the exhaust duration and timing?

To compare, a stock 2.1 cam measured at
The cam with .050 lift.

IO=5 BTDC
IC=40 ABDC
EO=39 BBDC
EC=2 BTDC (note BTDC vs ATDC)
Overlap: 3.00 degrees
Intake Duration: 225.00 degrees
Exhaust Duration: 217.00 degrees
Intake Installed Centerline of 107.50 degrees ATDC.
Exhaust Installed Centerline of 110.50 degrees BTDC.
LSA=109

Web Cams lists a couple FI cams for T-4 but not WB, the cam most similar to yours is recommended for aftermarket FI. I'd give the a call and see what they have but don't advertise.

Actually, except for the shorter exhaust duration and tighter LS, it looks more like grind #86

That's why I'm thinking of using a higher ratio
On the exhaust only.

Web Cam Grind#86

IO=9 BTDC
IC=45 ABDC
EO=45 BBDC
EC=9 ATDC
Overlap: 18.00 degrees
Intake Duration: 234.00 degrees
Exhaust Duration: 234.00 degrees
Intake Installed Centerline of 108.00 degrees ATDC.
Exhaust Installed Centerline of 108.00 degrees BTDC.
