Check my spark map please

Post by Ampdub »

Ok so I asked in another thread about spark maps and got some great responses and info and did not want to hijack it so starting my own

I am installing a MS3/X into my daily drive and is a gradual process, i am getting the spark sorted out first as have not finished the plenum. All the output testing is done & working fine. I'm usiing LS1 CNP in wasted spark so just need to sort out a map and i will rip the distributor out.
Engine - 1600DP with fully merged header, nothing fancy, Im not going turbo at the mo so just need a N/A map for now.

I want to see what the more experienced tuners think of my rudimentary map. will this melt anything?
Thanks

I'm not sure if I'm considered experienced but your engine will definitely run on that spark map.

Give it a try but I think you could set your 2650 rpm line at 28 degrees or a bit more and reblend down to idle.

I have found my engine likes 14 plus degrees advance at idle so don't be afraid to bump it up a bit around there.

Once you drive it a bit you can also give yourself more advance in the light cruise areas then lean out the mixture for better economy.

None of those are required but once you get over the newness and find it won't blow anything up you can experiment with different settings.

I can't remember if you are FI or not so repost your engine specs and hardware.

I'm going to give it a crack. I am only using tuner studio light at the mo, would it be worth upgrading to get the auto tune yet. I was going to do this once i get the injection system up and running as i am still using a carb at the mo.

I never registered and paid for the full program when I was just running ignition.

Autotune only does fuel....you have to adjust the ignition.

I waited until I went FI.

You'll find that you can run more spark with crank-trigger than with a distributor.

this is mine i run on my carbed 1200

that works for my engine really well.... just to give you an example of how far (maybe further) you can go.... its all trial and error, i found advancing WOT more gave me nothing... so put it back, lots of little experiments like that 8)
