Okay, so I followed the assembly guide for my ms2 for a noise Hall effects sensor. It said to run the ground wire from the sensor in through a spare line and jump it over to xg1 then remove the jumper from xg1 to xg2.
I did that and now with the unit in the car I have no LED lights on the ecu and no action from injectors and ignition in tuner studio.
Am I also suppose to hook a ground into the hall effect lead to?

Re: xg1-xg2
XG1/2 exists so you can internally ground the opto or run the ground remotely for noise reasons on the std HV trigger in setup.
On the hall setup it is used somewhat differently.
Did you do the other mods for the Hall sensor as well?
(replacing diodes with resistors etc?)
Note: The 12v Hall setup is subtly different than the 5v setup, it IS possible to kill an opto that way.
I always put mine in a machined pin socket, and carried spares.
They only die when you don't have any spares.
(How they know is a mystery)

Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

I'm going to answer no to the diod to resistor mod.

Follow the msextra docs, they are quite good.
They almost seem to have been trying to hide the info for the v2.2 boards from the manual homepage, but it's all still there.
Note the circuit differs for 5v and 12v input:
(470 ohm vs. 1K resistor and different supply voltage to the opto---Not an accident)

Re: xg1-xg2
Is this just another way of doing a 5v pull up? I did do a 5v pull up to get the hall sensor to work. I should mention that I had this unit running but, had lots of ecu resets.

This sets the circuits power source and limits the opto properly for the different sensor voltages.
This does not do the pullup for you, that is in addition. The pullup can be in the harness...
(Note: many sensors have built in pullups, check first)

Re: xg1-xg2
After playing around with all this I figured out that the sensor angle must have been wrong. I pulled my hair out for no reason. Oog!

...Now you know more about MS triggering circuits than you ever wanted to.
At least it was a learning experience

Will the hair grow back that I pulled out this summer?
Actually was able to drive my car around the block tonight. It felt good. Now time to learn how to tune it.
