2.8l on the streets

Hi everyone! With the availabilty on engine cases like the TF-1 and heads like the JPM that can be easily have on 4"(101.6) configuration, it makes me wonder the posibilty and reliabilty of a 2.8l Type 1 for the streets. I had read of some builds with JE pistons and Autocraft cylinders. But what about LN Nickies. I am aware of one build going that direction but had any one build something like that and already used on the streets with success? I know reliability and success are subjective terms, so to my application it would mean use on streets with pump gas, prolonged runs(more than 50 miles) on weekends, even no overheating if it stuck on a traffic jam. No daily driver to work, but if is that your case it would be better!
