engine starting to puff smoke when accelerating

Right a few weeks ago I notice my beetke started to puff white ish smoke out of the exhausts on start up but not at any other time. Then today I noticed thatvwhen I reved the engine from idle there was more white ish smoke it not there all the time only when you put the engine under hard acceleration

Hi Advinnie,

White vapor is typically oil, and the whiter, the less oil. If there is significant oil burning, it will shift to whitish-gray.

Black smoke or black inside exhaust pipe color, of course, is rich carbs.

You might have too much accel pump stroke washing oil off the cylinder walls, and the diluted oil being sucked into the cylinders and burned.

Smell the oil on your dipstick. If you smell gas, you have oil dilution.

Check the tip of a couple of spark plugs -- consistent oil burning will show black, similiar to over-rich.

Ok will check plugs tomorrow but I have noticed that the smoke only appears when you rev it from idle if you have the rpm at any other speed and then rev it there is no smake at all

If that were an upright then I would also suggest to look at seals and/or guides. :wink:
