MS at TX Mile
Just want to thank Vee Dub Nut and VW slave for their help (and several other folks) on my Ghia so that I could make it to the Texas Mile this weekend. My Ghia went from 102mph at Bonneville in 2011 with dual carbs, to 141mph on Sun. with EFI and a turbo. Way faster than I expected, and the trans needs a rebuild now, but it was all worth it. I hope to see more VW's there in the future.

I'm still just super stoked for you... Great to knock your goal out of the park like that. Also glad I could lend a hand along the way!
Wish I could have been there this weekend.. I was keeping a close eye on facebook & aircoolers all weekend looking out for updates.
Here is a pic of the ghia (hope you don't mind greg)

Thanks Adam, for posting the photo. We were not able to get the lap top and ecu to communicate all weekend, so no data log
Didn't get the water to air inner cooler installed in time either, but CHT was below 300 deg. and oil below 200 deg. It doesn't take long to drive just one mile
That's me on the left with the small hat, and Carlo, my new VW friend from Mexico on the right, with the big hat.

Way to go!! I had an acquaintance last year that took a Z06 Vette to 178mph at the TX mile, but you kinda expect something like that in a Vette. . . I'll bet you raised a few eyebrows with that performance!! Way to represent!!

Congratulations on the performance -- -- How fast are they going to let you go before they require a roll bar or cage????

Re: MS at TX Mile
At the TX Mile a 4 point roll bar, or a cage is recommended, but not required if you go less than 199 mph. The 150 mph club at Bonneville requires a roll bar, fire suit, you can't go over 159.9 mph and it's 1500 miles from my house. Although, it's 2 miles long. So, I plan to go to the TX Mile for now. I will have a roll bar in the car soon, it wasn't finished last month when I ran. When I look at the roof of a Ghia, there isn't much metal there to support the roof if the car rolled over. And, I have 4 point seat belts that don't allow me to lean over into the passenger seat, like the stock 3 point ones would. I think a roll bar is an excellent idea.
The next TX Mile is in Oct., I will be there trying for 150 mph!

Your roll cage looks great! Lots of strong triangles.
Will you be taking your Ghia to Bonneville this year?
