Hedrock's 'vert project...

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

86 pages on this thread. My n o net connection is really slow out here in the desert. I'm missing you #1. You need to come out sometime to get reinthused. Outstanding job on the project. Can hardly wait for the issue to come out.

Here's a little update on the latest changes. I picked up a few things from our Help Clint fund raiser and used the down time this winter to make some improvements.

First I cut out some sheet metal due to some poor fitting issues...

Here is the new replacement...

I also wanted to clean up the rear fire wall ant the front fire wall areas...

Next I replaced the fuel tank so I could add a "trunk" and have a place for my new to me air filter. Here is a pic with out the lid or filter mounted yet...

Air filter and lid installed...

And I added a new Steeker...

All I have left to do is install the engine and do a little wiring. I really think (hope) this will be the last re-model on this car while I have it!

I like the white spreaders on the tank. Looks classy. More neatening things up making it look so much better... if possible.

Thank you Lee. I need to finish this one and walk away from it once and for all. I have started collecting parts for bug I had out at my Dad's house. It will be a stock street bug for D/D.

The whole keeping up with the Jones' thing is like the Kobayashi Maru...a no-win scenario.

Ahhh... but there is always a winner; it is just figuring out who it is and who it isn't… “cause and effect” you know. Sometimes it is only the spectators, those who supply the parts and materials at a huge price to the contestants or is it the “dark side” that wins (Ooooo).

I personally think there is (almost) always going to be a winner but is the “battle” going to be worth it to either side? I know I have benefited from almost all of the builds here and even on TOS the few times I have stuck my nose in there for a quick look (too nasty of a place for me or I happened to guest surf at the wrong times). There can only be one no-win situation and that is the end.

It’s been so long since I heard that term “Kobayashi Maru”; a familiar name/term but I had been watching something on TV using similar names and I couldn’t place it. I had to look it up. Nice simile/metaphor!
