weber carb question
Hi forum members! Question, whats the difference between weber 44mm IDA carbs and 44mm IDF carbs. I will be running my engine only in the spring summer and fall but only on nice warm days. Which would be best for me ? running a 2058CC

Re: weber carb question
One pretty significant difference is that there is no such thing as a 44IDA
Now, in 48mm you'll find an IDA and an IDF. Generally, the IDF is better for street applications and the IDA is preferred for full-on racing (or for alcohol fuels, since it has no rubber components which might be dissolved by "hot" fuels).
Depending upon the potency of your engine, and what you'll be doing with it, either a 44IDF or 48IDF may be appropriate for street use. Generally, you can expect better driveability and fuel economy with the smaller carbs while the larger ones should yield a few more HP, at least in the upper-RPM range.
IDAs have a larger spread between the throats than IDFs, so the intake manifolds are not interchangeable. They're also physically larger and usually more challenging to fit (even more so, the aircleaners).

This is a good generic break down of the common models;

Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.
