Curbside Tire Disposal

I thought about taking some pics yesterday but didn't. My departed friend left me some bad tires at the shop he was supposed to dispose of. Not wanting to incure the wrath of local authorities I figured it was time for them to go. Back in my demo derby days I learned that if you cut the bead off a tire you could get it inside another tire and that combined with a tube bade your tires much more durable. But most gearheads I know end up with more than their share of useless tires over time.
I found that if you cut the sidewalls off by the treads they can go in your trash can. I fold the treads twice and tie with string. My local trash man just hauled of 3 235/75 15 tires I broke down that way. All 3 treads were in 1 trash bag and all 6 sidewalls were in another. I have even left the sidewall out in view and had them hauled off before. Just my $.02
I find that doing a plunge cut with a jig saw and then cutting around the edge works good.

good to know how to cut em, but our local regs say they will take 1 only. which means one a week, for a couple weeks. That or I trade them down the street at a shop, I get a useable tire from his junk pile, he takes my trash. doesn't cost him any extra and he don't deal in used tires.

I havn't had to get rid of any tires for a couple of years now, but the last time I did, the local landfill charged $3 off the rim, $5 on the rim I think. I had to throw them onto a box trailer myself though, they're not allowed to go in with the rest of the trash.

if you have the tire still on a wheel, cut the side wall off of one side, then turn it rest of the tire inside out, and the you have a wife proof planter
a bit of paint and they are fine, wife can reverse into them all she wants, she ain't never going to break it
