Have heard that a t25 crank can be made to fit in an air cooled case, is this true have done a search and not much comes up. So can anyone help with information or links? Would be interested in what needs to be done to make it fit? Which crank is best to go for 1900 or 2.1? And what size engine I could end up with? No doubt as I learn I will have more questions
Should say think you guys call a t25 engine a wasserboxer engine

Re: t25 crank
The "T25" is called a "Vanagon" in North America.
Wasserboxer crank is basically similar to type 1 except for the flywheel side main bearing and flywheel mounting, (which is similar to type 4).
Usually the type 1 case needs it's number 1 main bearing saddle and oil seal mounting area machined out to accept the larger diameter type 4 size bearing and oil seal. You will then need to use the flywheel from a 1700 or 1800 baywindow or 411/412 car. Also remember that the type 1 gearbox uses a slightly shorter input shaft, so the needle bearing inside the flywheel has to live a bit closer towards the gearbox.
The 1.9 wbx only had 69mm crank, but 2.1 had 76mm. Think bearing dimensions changed around 1986.
I found a used Oettinger/Okrasa wbx crank (which is counterweighted), and had my type 1 case machined to accept this crank.
