Knowing the thread size of the alternator-shaft or nut would be useful. Does anyone know what it is offhand?
Thanks in advance!

Re: type I alternator pulley nut thread size?
It's m12x1.5. The factory nut was sized to use the same socket as the sparkplugs (20.6mm or 13/16") but the nuts that come with replacement generators are 19mm.
The threads on the fan end of the shaft are also m12x1.5, but the special nut there is huge (36mm or 1-7/16", same as the flywheel gland nut) so it's often overtightened...it should only be ~45lb-ft.
Here's a useful booklet that contains most of the thread sizes and torque specs you'll ever need:

Thanks a bunch!
I don't have an alternator currently to look at so that info is very much appreciated!
