Wasserboxer parts air cooled

Post by Bronte17 »

Hi, been doing some research about engine choices for my 71 beetle and have come across the wasseboxer option. Rather than converting to a complete oxyboxer why can I not just remove the water jacket and cool the standard wasser items with air like a type 1 fan set up? So basically using a MV in standard form but with a fan shroud? with the water components removed the air seems to move through the head freely. Sure its probably a silly question to some of the more experienced memebers, has this been done before. thanks for your help

Air cooled heads and air cooled barrels and shroud are done one the stock wasser crank and case to "back date" the design.
Not common.
Not for the faint of wallet.
But bad ass as the wasser crank and case are quite robust when used in an air cooled application.

The slang term is type-5
Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.
