Mike, you didn't mention weight of the valve. With a 40mm inlet valve you need much less spring force compared to a 48 valve for example to maintain proper tracking.
Also, don't limit your discussion to constant rpm. During acceleration the forces are far greater.

Re: Lifters
But to be honest, light lifters vs heavy lifters i cant rely feel a difference in a normal motor!
maby a engine that is build to its limits can show some difference! but in a normal street motor
i don't think it matter so much!when they starting to talk about maby 500 rpm more whit super
light lifters on a high strung 8500rpm engine then its maters for maby get a 10 of a second in a drag strip
but in normal daily use i cant say that i have notice big difference in heavy vs light lifters!

Re: Lifters
Turboboy I am sorry we are getting off topic . Hey Steve, I didn't forget the valve weight or the weight of the lifter/pushrod combination , what I was trying to get at was that the valve train has a mechanical advantage on the lifter because of leverage gain on the rocker and that most of the spring pressure is used to control the valve not the lifter. I am not an engineer and I am sure I am just saying this wrong , hopefully I do not sound like I am arguing, hahahah I am just an old fart, what the heck do I know , Mike McCarthy

With those lifters, Smith Brother pushrods, ti retainers, I'll run single springs with an engle FK44+1.5 rockers. Much less stress on valve train, less wear, more hp.
