Thanks Dejan, I've been reading up on cams for turbos and think I'm gonna go  Engle Cam TCS 10 TURBOCAM 284/276D X .430/.420 Lift.

This is just my opinion, the reason why I didn't choose a TCS camshaft :
those are fine only if your turbine is too small. too small mean too much backpressure. When you backpressure is much bigger than your boost pressure (and it always happen ), a small exhaust duration can be useful. But there is a lot of choice of turbos with properly matched turbines available now, so why choke your exhaust ?

the web 218 is a great turbo camshaft.

I would chose the Engle 100.

For a turbo, I have always heard that, when in doubt, you should go for the smaller option (cam, exhaust size, etc...)
If it was n.a, I would probably go for an Engle 110 (street engine, right?). For a turbo, I would chose one size down.
You could always play with ratio rockers at a later stage if you want more lift.

FYI, I helped work on a supercharged 1776cc two years ago. Stock crank, 40*35 heads, and Engle 110.
At 6,500rpm, power was still going up...

I was planning on using a W100. I even bought one of my build. Its just sitting in my garage getting dusty. A lot of people say the W100 is good. Then again it's not a turbo cam and after reading up about overlap and how turbos dislike it I thought I would look at other options.

The guy who has been working on my heads told me that the 218 is a good turbo cam as it has less overlap. He also said that Web make better cams!

The option of running a TSC 10 only came about after I noticed that it was being used by a lot of peeps on this forum.

Found this massive list of different beetle cams and there specs online.

In conclusion I'm still unsure! :?

Putting the cam choice to one side. I thought I would fit my Bosch fuel pressure regulator and fuel injection fuel filter to my fuel lines. Its a bit of a squeeze. I also plumed in the brake cylinder and Billet reservoir. Bling 8)

Then I used 5' 7mm FI fuel hose to run too and from my tank.

Update...

Got my second-hands 043 heads back from Stateside Tuning and they look great.

Had them chemical cleaned with new guides fitted and Diamond honed. A s-steel
valves set fitted. A 3 angle valve seats + vac tested. The heads were also bored for 90.5
barrels. Hemi spherical chambers were machined and I had a set of HD single
springs fitted.

CCing came out at 55 & 55.40. I plan to use copper head gaskets to get the
compression ratio to 7.5.

Before.

After.

Got most of my megasquirt wiring done. I ran the wires through the body pipes to the front of the car. I'm going to mount the megasquirt relay boxes with the fuse boxes on a hinged drop down board under the dash.

I also made up some stainless steel panels including a fire wall. I'm very happy the way it came out...

here is a little update for ya. Got a few more bits done like polishing my turbo inlet.

Removing the external wastgate mount with just a dremel multi tool was a nightmare.

Still have to do the final buff but I'm pretty happy with it. :D

From this...

Here is a quick draw up of my Megasquirt wiring install.

I also got my fuel tank brass fittings in and made a Edis coil mount. It will be placed on the firewall once I've got the engine in.

Image

This weekend I hope to fit this under the rear seat as well as re-welding and painting my roll cage.

Fitted the oil cooler and fan.

Image

had a welder over for the day to re-weld my roll cage as I was a bit unsure on the strength of my mates crappy welding.

I also made up some turbo exhaust bungs to block up the old internal wastgate.

Image

Image

I didn't get round to taking a photo of it once it was fully welded. But I'll get a pic up next time I'm working on the buggy.

And I'm going to be running one of these suckers!

Next up the fun part the engine build!!!!

I had this old 1300cc motor in the buggy previously and now the time had come to strip it down. So that I could use its case on the new build.

First thing to do was to remove the gland nut by using this cool little flywheel locking tool.

Image

then a few bits of wood and a long extension made removing it a breeze. 8)

Image

Image

Once this was done. I could then mount the lil 1300 on the engine stand and strip off the heads, barrels and pistons.

Image

After it was totally disassembled I took the case to a local soda blaster. To clean off all the old paint.

Here is an action shot.

Image

Than the case was sent to Stateside tuning for cutting to except the larger 90.5 barrels.

:D

That place looks like a mess!!

Looks like you have been picking away at it :) I like how you got the cooler tucked up in there too.

Thanks Mario.

It turns out that having the case soda blasted was not a good idea after all. As it clogs all the galleries with soda. :(
now I'm having to get the case dipped to clean them.

I like this build a lot - it's almost the same as mine will be! I'll be watching with interest & will probably be in touch regarding MS wiring!

Good luck!
