Getting my case ready for shipping off to be cleaned and machined at Rimco.
I want to remove the two oil bypass valves so the case is fully cleaned. I cant get the damn things to budge they are in there so tight.
Any suggestions on how to best break them loose? The slot appears to be slightly concave, are there any tools on the market meant to tightly fit the slot?
Any suggestions how to get these covers loose without stripping the slot on the head?

While I am from the "bigger hammer/sudden jolt" club, good ACVW machine shops will take care of them for you.

Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.

My goof, sorry about sending you off in another direction.
I have had a lot of problems removing them myself with not being able to remove one of them. I have seen guys make their own screw drivers with long, thick blades. It might be an option as the room may be lacking for the screwdrivers with that long of a blade. You used to be able to buy sockets with a screw driver blade like that but I have't noticed them for quite a while now.

No problem Lee, it was good reading anyway.
I ended up using hammer and walk it around with chisel technique, took about 5 minutes to get them out.
Just have to buy new ones now, the old ones will still work just don't like the chiseled look on a motor.

I use a 3/8" drive drag link socket on an impact driver.Ol'fogasaurus wrote: You used to be able to buy sockets with a screw driver blade like that but I have't noticed them for quite a while now.
