Hi All
Just stripped my 1600 down for a rebuild and I have the dreaded crack behind #3.
As I need a new case, and would rather put all new parts, I've been surfing around the net for part prices. It seems the best deal I have found so far is the Scat zero mile long block. http://www.scatvw.com/master/long_block/. I'm after peoples opinions of their quality, and how well they last.
I dont mind stripping it down and giving it an internal check if needed, but it sure looks like a cheap way to get everything I need for a long block cheaply.
cheers
Damian

I know the GEX motors have a horrible rep, i think the SCAT motors are a little on the rough side too. They are assemblers, not builders. I dont want to promote another vw forum, but thesamba had a vendor section with consumer reviews you may want to check out. Also use the search forum on this site and see what happens when you type in SCAT.

Re: SCAT Zero Mile Long blocks
thanks Kangaboy. I did try searching these forums and samba, but didn't find much info on the longblocks. I just found the scat kits and they seem like really good value. Even better than this is the case that I have I though was cracked and it turns our it is just superficial crazing on the case from being in the weather, so I'm gonna go rebuild that into a 1600dp turbo.kangaboy wrote:I know the GEX motors have a horrible rep, i think the SCAT motors are a little on the rough side too.
