are you thinking of the voltage regulator? Two reasons. My firewall is too crowded already and secondly that was the easiest spot ;) Maybe not the prettiest, though...

While not idea (similar vibration issues w/shroud mount) I kind of like the looks of the old 6 volt generator/regulator combos where the regulator sits on top. You might see what kind of depth one could sink a stud by looking at the grounding lug on top of the generator case.

You can also modify the top of the injector holder for a hole that looks very close the “wiring plug” opening, by using a belt sander.
Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.

TBH I dont know, but on almost every other technical issue, the Ghias followed the bug, so this being a '62 car, it was originally a 6V, and would have had the VR on the dynamo, but on later cars, I expect they would have had them under the rear seat.

I need some projects for next winter also :)

The original (and still valid) plan was to convert to COPs also, and I have all the necessary parts, but as spring is already upon me, I chose to prioritise the ITBs and keep the EDIS (as I know that works flawlessly) to get back on the road soon. Removing the VR and the two EDIS modules would really clean up the engine bay compared to how it looks right now.

Ghias never had the battery inside, it was always in the engine compartment. There is a bracket above the inner fender (left) that held the VR.
Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.

Of course, you are right ;)

You see my Ghia was never in a state where such details were visible. Here's a few shots of it from when I just started the restoration:

feeling slightly embarassed now....

The only thing that was the matter with the fuel pump, is that it was dry... As in I ran out of fuel om my last trip in October...

Oh well. The good news is that all I need now is a few inches of HT wire before I can fire it up :)

Yes, it arrived in the mail today ;)

anyways, I stoppet at my local FLAPS on my way home from work today, and picked up the missing HT lead, and after fiddling a bit with some bad grounding (I got no rpm signal from the EDIS module, turned out to be a loose ground connection....) it fired right up :)

I made no changes to last year's single plenum/TB map, but still it fired, and I managed ro run i well around the block.

A couple of issues still to be sorted:
-Hook up the LC-1 for tuning purposes
-Make some sort of idle stop. I assumed there were idle circuit sin the TBs, but I was at least not able to open them enough to get the car running at idle, so as an easy fix, I adjusted the throttle cable so that it does not close the butterflies entirely, but that is not a permanent solution, as I want a positvive stop for the butterfles. Since I flipped one of the TBs around, the original idle adjuster works as a WOT stop instead....
-Mount the drivers seat ;) Good thing I am 6 feet 5, so that I can still see the road while sitting on the floor :)

Could you drill and press a roll pin, (spring pin) into the pulley and fab an adjustable stop for it? Maybe run a longer end on the cable, (where it goes into the pulley), and make a stop for that?

Grelland--- I must confess I never saw your build thread over on TOS, just read it, the repair work you did on this Ghia is absolutely amazing.

6'5"... Have you considered grafting in Sirocco or Corrado seats with late rails?
The late rail setup is much safer in a crash, esp if an idiot were to rear end you.

It's usually best to have a stop independent of the cable.

EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

On the TB with the TPS there is a boss in the perfect location for a idle stop. I drilled and tapped it for a extra idle set screw I had laying around, it looks like Mikuni had installed it at the factory. I don't know what you can do for the other side since I have all the original moto hardware still attached and operational.

Finally I got a few miles in the Ghia again, and yesterday I made a little tour of the neighbourhood, but I had made no changes to the MAPs since the last drive last year. But at that time, I had a centrally placed plenum and TB, so naturally, it did not run particlarily nice....

So today, I hooked up the lambda and started the tuning.

But then I have ran into a couple of issues...

The first one is that the lambda reads either 8.5 or 22.5, so the VEAL makes no sense... i have tio look into that a bit closer. Probably just a minor issue.

The other issue, however is probably something a few of you have experiences before. I enclose a screen dump, and what I am thinking about is the oscillating MAP signal.
Uten navn.png
Now I have simply hooked the vacuum ports from all the 4 runners in the TBs together, and no filtering. I have read that others have had success with both a small volume of sorts or maybe a small opening to slow the pulses down.

The oscillating PW signal is due to the MAP-oscillation, I expect

Any ideas?

your MAP signal is a bit noisier then mine. How did you gang your vac lines together. I have 1/2 tee'd together and 3/4 tee'd, then each bank is tee'd to MS.

Looks like there is a setting wrong or something for your wideband, the PW looks to be in the ballpark.
