Dripping 45 Delorto carb

Post by Leatherneck »

Finally went to start the engine but it started dripping fuel down the barrels once the elec. fuel pump is on. Any ideas? I have misplaced my Dellorto carbs book. Thanks for the help.

Fuel pressure is 3 psi.

Carb has been sitting for 5 months. It is a single downdraft on a 1915 turbo. Installed everything, turned it on and then turned it over. Went back and checked fuel pressure then noticed it dripping down the barrels.

sounds like the needle and seat or floats are stuck. Turn on fuel pump long enough to fill fuel bowl then remove fuel line and blow with mouth into fuel inlet via a longer hose and see if you can blow. If you can, the needle and seat is not closing. Pull top of carb and check floats and needle and seat. Hope this helps
