1966 wiper motor rebuild

I recently purchased a 1966 vw,converted to 12 volts.
The wiper motor was sluggish, when I turned them on.
I took the motor apart and the grease inside the gears was dry and smelled bad.
I cleaned the old grease out of the gears and regreased the mechanism and works smooth.
The issue,I have,I cannot get the wipers to go to the park position when turned off,
they stop where i push the wiper switch in.
I noticed on top of the gears a plastic? type tab and not sure if that has anything to do with the wipers not going into park postion.
Would like to know how to fix this problem.
Pictures, illustrations or any help is greatly appreciated.

That extra piece is what determines where the park occurs. You may have inadvertently installed it in the wrong position. You will probably have to disassemble it and install in the proper position. Study the linkage and associated parts very closly to determine where, in rotation, the extra piece should be indexed. You may have to try more than once as there may be a bit of "coast" when it activates.

Hot, humid air is less dense than cooler, drier air. This can allow a golf ball to fly through the air with greater ease, as there won't be as much resistance on the ball.

There is no "coasting" when the park position activates - it shorts the motor windings on to themselves and very effectively stalls the motor almost instantly.
