cold weather oil leak??
Fall is here in new england, and my new to me 79 bug seems to have a cold weather leak behind the drivers sides heater tube under the motor.. funny just that side and once it warms up no more leak! gasket? 2 differnt metals? not a big leak but i know it should'nt be doing this. I live in a condo where they are a real pain about working on cars so i havn't had it up in the air yet to look.any thought ? Chris

Re: cold weather oil leak??
Cold oil equals higher oil pressure, which might expose a weak seal somewhere.
A left-side leak could be oil cooler seals.
Do you have a working thermostat?

Maybe you could rent a small storage place and work on it there.79ragtopbug wrote:Fall is here in new england, and my new to me 79 bug seems to have a cold weather leak behind the drivers sides heater tube under the motor.. funny just that side and once it warms up no more leak! gasket? 2 differnt metals? not a big leak but i know it should'nt be doing this.
