I always put 'em in front to rear..... It's not so bad if you take your time and open up all the covers in the tunnel. Seems like the Super was different than the Standard beetles..... Been about 10 years since the last fuel line.

I'M BUILDING A 72 AND JUST STARTED UP THE ENGINE A HAD A BIG LEAK. THE CAR HAS BEEN SETTING FOR 10 YEARS. THE CHASSIS IS A 73. DOES THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

You need to turn your caps lock off.

The holes are all along the tunnel. One for the pedals, shifter, e-brake, rear coupler, front frame head.

Not sure what size, but looking, I'd say 4mm? I just ordered the correct line down at the Knights Foreign Auto store. They were really the best VW store in the Area, and are still to this day Sorely missed. It's been about that same 10 years since the Owner Died. There are plenty of places online to buy exactly the line and length you need.

Also, I should clarify.... You said you have a leak.... is it in the engine compartment or inside the car somewhere? or maybe under the Gas tank up front?

I'm not sure where the leak is coming form but it started leaking from a small rust hole in the bottom of the chassis at the front frame head.
Also, I recently some detailed pics and information of how to perform this procedure on the forum. Have you seen any?

Well,... someone on here once had a page with cutaway views of the chassis tunnel..... Don't remember which member. But what you do is start surfing and reading and when someone has a "Bug info Page" listed and linked in their Sig..... Grab it and see what kind of technical info is there. That's one of the ways to find the greater gold mines on this forum.

I had constant gasoline odor inside my '67 bug. I replaced the cap which didn't help. Finally I took the tank out and saw it had been leaking around the threads on the outflow plug. I put in a new tank and metric gas lines. That solved the gas odor. But now I smell exhaust. I guess the gas odor had been masking the exhaust odor.

I tried Mid America Motorworks for the fuel line that runs through the tunnel. They didn't show one. Does anyone know another place to order it? Will brake line work?

Tweeks is an online parts store that specializes in Porsche 914s. They had the same D-jetronic fuel injection as the VW squareback and probably the ragtop. Tweeks had their own "Marc" who able to answer every question possible about 914s. I recall my 914 required special hose to accomodate the pressure the fuel injectors needed and was prone to vapor lock. I also gave up trying to keep the archaic FI working and switched to a weber carb.
