Re: Nilza's Baja
Made the short 7 hr trip to the stockton sand dunes over the long weekend, One of the boys offered to tow the baja t the coast save the assault on my ear drums. We left at 2pm on friday after work unfortunatly the landrover encountered some overheating coming over the range, on the plus side the girlfriend was only 3 hrs behind in her ute. So after a road side camp out and some magyver work on the hoses the rover was back on the road and the trailer behind the ute, rolling into newcastle about 1 am.
Unfortunatly the problems for all teh 4wd continued for the whole weekend and not only did i lose my camera but i spent most of teh weekend doing mercy dashes for trailers and parts AND it poured down rain for the whole weekend which is a pain if you don't have windows, but we did get to the dunes eventually and the beetle went incident free, got to test the full travel of the suspension.
Except for the beetle not one part of the weekend went to plan, did get a few quick videos on one of the girls phone though,

this time for sure

Went for a bit of an adventure on sunday, (and remembered to take my camera for a change) as per usual nothing really baja worthy... . . . It is possible to find a nice track every once in a while but it never really goes for more than a kilometer or two before you run into a river of somebodies farm(definatly still dreaming of the beaches)
Pretty countryside though,

and the prickles out here are hard enough to make there way into your tyres

Those prickles are called "goat-heads".

don't ask me why I decided to go for a quick run and do this after work, .. . . . but it resulted in a bent tie rod

That'd make a good avatar.
If all you bent was a tie rod, you certainly did something right in your build.

Re: Nilza's Baja
I may have over cooked the run up just a little on this one, definaly had me a little worried whether i was going to touch down before or after i hit the bush on the other side. Think that maybe thats the only reason a bent the arm ( because i was already turning the wheel, thinking " I gotta go right here")
Only took about 20mins the fix on the track with a hammer and a big rock, drove it home, no extra rattles. Probably drive it to work today just to put it on the ramp and check for unseen damage.
We stepped out the landing zone after my mates composed themselves and went alittle over thirty feet. Might not do that again too soon

Yep,

Think it was about 34 degrees *c that day (bit over 90*f ?)
This is why the australia/america off road forums work so well together. if it not dune season ,we can live vicariously though each other
