CopperBaja's Baja

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

Tech inspecting side-by-each's at desert and short course offroad races, I keep running across people bragging about how much $$$$ they have into their little buggies. I've heard over $75K!!!!! And they start out down around the same $$ as what you've already invested into The Copperbeast, and those need a lot of fixing cuz' they've been beat to death. Stick with the Bug Jeff. You can't drive a Rhino to work. I drive the ol' Baja every day and offroad it too. Part of your problem with only driving it a couple times a year is that you limit yourself to the "Glamis Season". The high dez may not be as close to you, but the Season is all year long. And there are many places to take a Baja other than OW and PC. Ask Skid...Sure there's always something to fix or upgrade. That's the nature of such things. Same with dirt bikes, 4x4s, Rhinos, quads, motorhomes, TVs, video games and Computers. R/C offroaders are the same too!!!

No, but there's a couple pennies hidden in the car somewhere. ;)

Just continuing to treat it as mine...until it's not. Everything's for sale....for a price. No worries, no hurries. 8)

I can't drive my baja to work either. That's kind of the issue...it sits in the garage and collects dust.

Are you saying that you do not have two coppers to rub together? How sad!

You should move to Georgia.
Hot, humid air is less dense than cooler, drier air. This can allow a golf ball to fly through the air with greater ease, as there won't be as much resistance on the ball.

Got a bit done to the baja on Sunday. Later in the afternoon, Chad came down. He gave me quite a few tips and shared a bit of his VW knowledge. Even showed me how to rebuild a wiper motor. Thanks! ...and I hope you are on my team at this years Night Run!

It was plenty hot, so I opened up the carport.

With the hood off. You can also see, that I added the front license plate.

After a bit of thinking, cutting and drilling, this is what I came up with to fix the sagging tank.

Next weekend, I plan to wire up the (now working) wiper motor and pick up some wiper blades. A few other odds and ends to button up before the next trip on the 13th.

Nice work on the tank. Whose baja is across the street that is running over that guy? The driver looks upset. Your pics are too big. I don't like all the extra clicking.

Pics are too big? I resized them....so don't know.
That's my neighbor bleeding his brakes. He had a brake cylinder fail and was having problems bleeding the brakes. That baja will never see the desert...been trying to get him to go out for a year now.

If everything is for sale, how about the women?! How much for the women?!
