It's been a few years since I've had the car, and I'm not as involved with the SC community as I was. From what I remember, the MP3 was an OEM Eaton M90 with the rear of the case whacked off, and a new one welded on with a much larger inlet, for which Charles also made the matching inlet plenum. The MPX has the same inlet dimensions as the MP3, but is a completely new casting rather than a modified original.
The blue car is owned by Kevin Leitem, I've met him a few times at the SC Shootout, and a couple of other events in PA and OH. He and Charles have a good relationship, and most of the new stuff that Charles comes up with gets tested out on Kevin's car first.
My car still had stock heads and cam, with ported OEM exhaust manifolds and larger diameter exhaust all the way back. The cam is pretty mild on the SC, especially the 94-95, and a more aggressive grind would have certainly made more power up top. At the SC Shootout I was running in a class that allowed bolt-ons only, so I was trying to see how far I could go with that combo. If I had held on to the car, it would have got a fresh engine with ported heads and a bigger cam. It had over 200,000 km on an untouched bottom end when we put the MP3 on, at that point I wasn't ready to open up the engine.
I have to confess, prior to the MP3 I had a nice Magnuson "S-port" M90 on the car that was a good match for the stock internals, but I actually won the MP3 as a draw prize at the SC Shootout in 2006. That was a good year, won my class in the heads-up drag racing (with a 5-speed!), and won the blower on $40 worth of draw tickets. Here's a link to a shot of me warming up the rubber at the 07 Shootout in Kilkare OH:
