7.00x15 Tires

Post by Lotrat »

So I'm in the market for another pair of 7.00x15 front tires. I noticed Ricko had some 7.00x15 BFGs in his latest post and that sparked my curiosity to see who else made them. I found more than I thought. Information is hard to find on them. The are listed as 7.00x15, 700x15, 7x15, 7R-15, and 7R/15 just to make the search interesting. Getting online pricing is even harder... Not sure why these manufactures like to hide this tire size on their sites or not even bother to list them. Here's my list:

Very interesting post Lotrat. I will have to add this to the stickies...

I got my BFGs from Chris @ FOA. They were used at the time. He told me they are "Racer" tires. I guess that means BFG supplies to their sponsored race cars? Or you have to have connections to buy them?

Thanks for the info...Can we have more? Now how about actual tires size,(height/revs per mile) Bias vs radial, DOT approved or not...

Not trying to be a downer.... I do appreciate the comparison you did, cause everytime I start looking.... I usually get frustrated an quit :?

It's more of a list than a comparison. They only radial in the list is the Yokohama Y742S Radial Traction Tire as far as I know.

Some other useful info isn't published. I have the Hercules HDTs. They are bias tires, DOT approved, and made in China. Maybe if everyone looks at what they have and post up the info, I'll edit my first post.

This is a great thread...Been touched on many times in idividual threads, but to compile this info in one spot will be great.

As for what I have....4 empty BTR's

Again thanks Lotrat for the info

I would be happy to break those in for you... you still have my address?

And to add to the thread...

I think these look VERY similar to the tread on my tires. Knockoffs maybe?

I was in need of some of those tires too... as I blew out one of my fronts the last desert trip...

As for the Nankang... the US distributor for them is Latest Rage and they only have a few left in stock. From what they where telling me, they will no longer be bringing them in b/c the tariffs have increased on Chinese made items and didn't want to have to deal with that anymore. I should be getting mine this week from a friend that has an account there so hopefully they won't be too pricey

if you are gonna get em, get now because their won't be any for awhile or ever.

i can get some 7 x 15 from the local tractor tire supplier, they are made in china, not sure what brand but just over a hunnerd dollars...

i like the looks of the yoyomama radials best though. probably lighter than the chinese farm tires too.

I like the look of these "Yokohama Y742S Radial Traction Tire".

Am I right to assume the tyre is 7" from sidewall to sidewall? Otherwise you are going to end up with muchos understeeros. Personally I'd get the most open tread pattern I could find. I had all sorts of dramas over here coz most tyres are aimed at the medium/large 4wd market so anything near 31" tall is wide as well. Like even finding 8x31r15 is a pain and very exy.

Yokohama Y742S mounted on 5.5" wheel:
6" tread width
7" sidewall to sidewall
29.5" tall

The tread is very nice for a dual purpose car. I can't wait for the snow to fly, they have twice as many edges as a regular 700x15
