pics man we need pics! i know its only a 3g, but it still has a okish camerea, lets see the carnage you have wrought!

any tools ocme tome mind that would make your life easier? im in school so not really using anything. I have a cheap RO hook and loop, 7 inch grinder with wire brush for bondo, anything you need at all mention it, im packing the car up now. or something you wnat two of so you and the missess, or chrissy (hey her car needs some love to) can git-r-done as a fam.

remind me at some point to bring up the tie rods i have for spares, this bay needed at least the pass side.
give a man a watch and he'll allways know what time it is. give him two and he can never be sure again.

such a pretty bus! I can't wait to see him once he's all cleaned up.

This bus is awesome and I feel incredibly lucky that I will get to drive it. THANK YOU SNEAKS!

And thank you mr. fuser for getting the paint and parts! I hope the purple turned out OK?

Ut oh, she's here...

:)

Welcome aboard and thanks for joining in the madness (sparklingredpepper is the lovely young lady who owns this bus). This is a great resource for help and ideas. When you get a free minute (yeh, i know, college student so there isn't any free minutes) check out the forums here. Anything posted about a Westy or a Bay or early to mid 70's bus could apply (also look in the Off Road forum for tales of madness, there's even a pic of you in there). We're gonna have fun with this one:)

I didn't get any pics last night because the sun went down before I finished up. I had to hit all the bare metal with a can of Krylon so it wouldn't rust from the dew so right now it is a lovely shade of yellow, orange, grey, white, blue, pink, and red. More sanding/grinding to happen tonight. Here's a few pics from the night before last to prove to fuser my 3Gs (yes, I got to replace the old 3G) can take pics. Oh, and fuser, whatever you can toss into whatever you are driving and bring up will be appreciated. I have a 4.5 grinder with one of those funky fiber wheels that is doing pretty well but both my DAs crapped out and Deb is doing most of the sanding by hand. Chrissy has already been told she needs to start getting out here and working. She and her friend Jake spent several hours on Sunday working on this bus. I have new rod ends for it, still in the plastic even, but they came from the PO so who knows if they are right or not. Lexi answered the seat question - the buckets from my Westy will be going into her's. I was able to get the two metal tags off the fender without ruining them. The CA one is in good shape, too bad the Westafia one is all faded:( Sorry I didn't see the post last night, I'm getting old you know, once 9:30 hits I'm ready for my Geritol and warm milk...

All this bondo on the door? Don't even get me started, there is ONE little DING above where the reflector would go so they plastered the whole !@#$!@$ door with 1/2" 'skim coat.' Retards shouldn't be allowed to use bondo.

Has to get uglier before it gets pretty

No worries, whatever you get is a help. I really need to just break down and buy a new DA anyway.

HAha. Eggplant. I need to find that post by lotrat, i think it was in my baja build.

Regardless of when you come up tomorrow, someone will be home (besides Trapper). Mikey is barely employed so he'll be around. If it's after 2, Deb will be home. If it's after 3:30, everyone will be home.

Deb's carpel tunnel is acting up so I'll be solo on the bodywork today and probably tomorrow. I want to get one side done before nightfall, wish me luck.

EDIT: Found it

First coat of primer. Next, I'll hit the rest of it and then begin patching and blocking.

Huh, it kind of looks like someone drank a lot of paint and then spat it out at the bus...I'm liking the open-air windows.

I could get a green spare tire cover, and then it would truly look like an eggplant... fuser, did you say you had one?

The color of the primer is actually rather pretty too! :D

I can leave them off but it might get a wee bit chilly come January. How many screws are holding in fusers? This thing has like 20.
need to find you jalousy screens for them.

That actually might be kinda cool, I know a place that sells green vinyl paint. :)

what your not gonna mask the tires? you'll make a mess of them there donuts!
I take it by next week it will be too late for the power tools? that would be the soonest I could bring em up. I;ll still bring paint and stuff tommorow, so don't worry about that. I'll probably be swinging by after your home, gotta do work and all that good stuff, and apparently most folks do that in the daylight? who knew.

tire cover, I do have it, its one of those "now where did i leave that" questions. I thought I gave it to mnairhead (has he been around?) once upon a time, but I feel i saw it a few weeks ago, so i'll turn it up. right now its just dirty white vynal. I wanted to paint up some stuff on it, but like i said it don't fit over my hammer, i mean BFGs.

Between the typical Bay squat and slow leaks in the rear, it is a little saggy. I've got some nice m&s treads for the back and a littke adjustment to the torsios will hopefully resolve it.

I talked to the little lady, and yes a friend of hers made the avatar for her after she must have gone on and on about her new love. Also she said that she is fine wiht the color if you think it looks good, how did it dry? little too blue was better than a little too red she says. I have some that .somehow. go on my hand *glares at chrissy* and seems much more purple now to me.
