Line bored, but how much? '86 wasserboxer

Post by Rolf »

Hi

I am rebuilding an oxyboxer based on a '86 WBX case and it have previously
been line bored. But I don't know if it have been line bored 0,25 or 0,50 mm.

How big is the outer diameter of a STOCK #1 (flywheel end) main bearing??

It need yet another line bore and I need to know if I can get bearings to match
the new line bore or I need to make him a new case.

Why don't you get an STD bore case ??? Too much effort and $$ to an second under case does not make sense...

Why people with no stake in the outcome question someone's intentions rather than answering their questions is something I'll never understand.

KS #HL 87412 601 STD
VW #025 198 461A

Brand new bearings in hand, not in case:

#1 OD= 2.603" on horiz. axis
2.605" on vert. axis

#2 OD= 2.4055" horiz.
2.407" vert.

Hope you can find those OS bearings, let us know where you source them if you do.

Cheers.

Thanks Tencentlife ! Just what I needed.

It's a dragrace engine where the oil supply failed to the #1 main bearing and the bearing have
started to rotate. Just taking another case is'nt my first option since countless hours have been
spend on this case to prepare it.

Nope, it happend on the dyno two days before SCC but yes it was parked across your pit area at SCC.. It's not my engine, I build it 3 years ago and it pulled like a locomotive and made 264 hp.
It was later on sold and somebody else did some work on it and the oil supply failed. I was asked
to make it run again including a cam change and some other changes (more power :D ).

I was helping my friend Peter Bang with his Jägermeister type 1 racer. Tried to say hallo to you
but you where busy talking all weekend :)
