427cc/min/3bar injectors too big on a N/A 200hp engine?

Post by -Alex77- »

After trying to hassle with standard size injectors, i have decided to buy pico injenctors because there is no too much space.

My engine is N/A 2276cc about 200hp, and 330cc/min/3bar pico injectors should be just good, but at the future i might need bigger injectors, like 400-450cc/min/3bar. There is also 427cc and 490cc/min/3bar pico injectors, are the these too big to run on a N/A 200hp engine?

Obvious reason to get bigger injectors if someday i will add boost ;)

I ran 504cc injectors on a 1915 that had maybe 90HP when not on boost.

I'm thinking that this has to do with idle PW and being to big to idle good with the larger injectors, Am I wrong?

Right, I was thinking he was concerned about idle quality with the larger injectors, and I run 50lb injectors. Good idle quality and plenty of headroom when on boost.

Yes, i thougt so that 427cc/min/3bar injectors might work.

With this setup it looks like this, there is definetly not too much space. Anyone have/had similar problems? How have you solved these problems?

I might also make slimmer fuel rails, these at the moment are same size as CB rails, just different threads on ends.

Can you flip it or the TB around and go inboard?

Only if i can find intake manifolds with reverse mounting possibilites for IDF style bodies, that are straight and have enough material for match porting. I have thought this few times already, so far i havent found manifolds. Also one possibility is to weld injector bungs to bottom of the manifolds, like some have done already.

But with that combo on the pictures, i have successfully run idle and low rpm, without hitting any components to sidewalls, but it is very tight.

I really depends on the injectors you have and how they supply/graph out -- -- not all injectors offer linear supply all the way thru their fuel curve

Don't know if you want to try these as they are $195 ea but you can look at the graphs and see how some injectors "stumble" at the bottom

Very informative !!!

Slowtwitch dug up some pico injectors, only about an inch long, commonly used on motorcycles and jet skis...
(I picked up a GSXR harness for $10 on ebay for matching connectors to use on mine)

The ones I'm using came off a 160HP 1100cc jet ski (commonly pushed to 220+ in racing trim, same injectors)
I also picked up 8 zero mile injectors for $100 with 8 free 42mm flange mount ITBs only 60mm high.
(Recall leftovers NIB)
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

Well i am not going to buy 195$ injectors, 60$ pico injectors should work adequately. Already have designed slimmer fuel rail.

I really would like some ID injectors. I can't decide on 725 or 1000's since my 570's are about tapped.
