Alright I got everything squared away and have parts ready
Here are the raw parts
And a mounted VR sensor on the bracket for the Type1, it has a ton of crank axis adjustment for pulley variances as well as adjustment for different cases.
Type4 wheels are $40 shipped
Type1 wheels with bracket are $45 shipped
At this point I am still working on the total Type1 package including a machined pulley and a VR sensor. I may end up having pulleys made for me. I should know more on that next week. And I am looking for somewhere that will sell me a bulk of VR sensor and hope to pass the discount on. The VR sensor is off of a 1996 Mazda Miata. I'm sure it is in other models also.
Well I'm in for one type-4 wheel. I have a type-4 pancake cooled currently on the stand, Ford parts (pickup, OEM wheel, packs, wire, EDIS-4 and even the fuel collision switch).
Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.

Hey Tim, the pulley need to be machined to accept the trigger wheel. It may not be as sensitive as with a aluminum pulley. But the advantage of the steel wheel is the trigger can be tig welded in place. In the Aluminum pulley it needs to be epoxied in.

The type 4 wheel has all the teeth still on it. That way the end user has a choice for sensor placement. Once the sensor is placed, mark the tooth you don't need and grind it off.

Hmmm yes, I'm running into that issue now with the t4 wheel I have, possibly same pattern source.
Looks like I can maybe take a mm or so off the OD and have it work.
But...the "T1" wheel might work just peachy on the back of a stock T4 fan...
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

Well I just spent some quality time and I don't that style trigger wheel will do me any good. The blower shroud to case bosses are in the same airspace.
However I am still intrigued enough with the type-1 ring to attempt mounting it to a steel pulley and like that miata pickup.

The OD of the type 1 is 6.525"
What would the OD need to be for a pancake motor? And what would your sensor orientation be? Maybe the nexttime around I could make those also. I am also thinking of smaller wheels for power pulley sizes.
