Different IRS setups

Post by bug66 »

Anyone seen a Bug/Ghia with a Corvette C5/C6 rear cradle mounted to the cage/frame?

The cradle bolts from below, and the geometry is well proven.

The cradle itself needs some narrowing if you want to have a track width of a stock Beetle, but it's aluminum and easy to cut and weld.

If you go that route, I would suggest taking a look at the Project Binky video series on the YouTubes. They grafted a 4WD Celica system into an old Mini Cooper, but most relevant they made specific jigs to transfer the mounting point measurements from one car to the other and cut down on a ton of work trying to keep the geometry correct from one car to the other.
