WBX 2.1 crank in T1 case options?

Here's the place for info on converting to a Type V motor!

Lament may have been too strong a word. Is there a reason to not turn the no. 1 main bearing journal down to the 55mm T1 size?

sideshow said it. The OD of the 5 bolts holding the flywheel on won't fit in a 55mm circle.

Whoa, not sure what I am looking at; http://kompressor.typ1motor.de/
Check it out to me it looks like he is using
  • Early 1.6/1.5 case (no oil filer/block off hole)
  • Stock late MX oil pump (4 bolt only)
  • Later wasser cam (4 bolt only)
  • 210 Bus flywheel
  • Stock carburetor 1.6 era
  • Stock air cleaner (but butchered)
  • Single port era cooling system (steel cooler in shroud?)
  • A 2 or 4 coil ignition, whatever it is its not distributor based
Very nice work, now how he got the wasser crank and cam to fit as now I like the idea of a dual pattern stock'ish cam?
Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.

Yes I tied that all ready, kind of looks like he cut the #1 case side to fit. Back tracking up to the root side not seeing any other tech.

It may be a viable way to salvage a t1 case if its in otherwise usable condition--- given a new mag case costs darn near a ~grand these days.
All t4 mains starts looking like a really good plan...?
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

Ps (off topic):
Some original thinking on that engine.

He’s gone with a non-dog house shroud so the end castings can be reversed and routed behind the fan. For oil cooling he’s deleted the stock cooler and added a Mexican oil pump cover (with screw on oil filter socket), plus a (Mocal?) thermostatic sandwich adapter (to route oil to the cooler above 80C), plus a small BMW motorbike oil filter. Not seen that before.

Not sure what I am looking here;
https://www.cbperformance.com/product-p/1845.htm
But CB seems to offer some sort of adapter bearing for flanged cranks, something I have never messed with. Is this a possible route for bearings?

Looks like a very good possibility, although I don't see any options for oversize case or crank.
Also requires all t4 mains, this is not a bug, but you'd have to make sure DPR or such can make an all std t4 journal crank.
(or just pay $200 for the two bearings you can use if your wbx crank and case is std/std)

Hello

I bought the bearings from cb performance and they fit the crank just fine. But case will need to be machined for bearing tangs and flanged crank rear main seal.

Wow the thrust fits well enough for the t-4 shims? Good to hear, I have only noted that CB has not had a yearly sale in a while.
