I would think that it heat playing with the amount of boost your getting. I know the temps aren’t super high. What boost should you be seeing?

Theoretically I should have 13 psi boost, or 190 kPa pressure at max rpm and 3:1 overdrive.

Then I would most definitely say belt slip.grelland wrote:Theoretically I should have 13 psi boost, or 190 kPa pressure at max rpm and 3:1 overdrive.

I made a belt tensioner and it helped. Now I get around 155 kpa and it keeps it constant until the rev limiter kicks in. Pulls nicely.
I will post some logs later as the laptop is busy atm.
Here is how I solved the tensioner:

Re: AMR500 planning on a 1300cc - turning into a build thread
Still I was expecting a bit more boost but I will have to investigate a bit further.
I am considering making a larger pulley for the sc to see if I can build boost a little higher up in the rev range and by doing that maybe get a bit more at the top.
Anyways I am very pleased with the project so far and can't wait to tune it further to see what I can get out of it. The low end torque is almost as good as my 2110cc oxyboxer

Glad you got it solved. These engines seem to love forced induction for sure.grelland wrote:I made a belt tensioner and it helped. Now I get around 155 kpa and it keeps it constant until the rev limiter kicks in. Pulls nicely.

Re: AMR500 planning on a 1300cc - turning into a build thread
Here is a plot of a pull I did yesterday in 3 gears with the new belt tensionner:
I was a little surprised that the boost builds so early and then stays constant as the revs increases, maybe someone can chime in and verify that that is as expected?
On the lower half is the MAT and as can be seen, the temperature rises, but then the water/meth injection kicks in, and a few seconds later the temperature is down to about 37 degC, and stays there.
So far so good

Looks good!
But making a bigger pulley for the SC will result in lower boost.
Get a bigger pulley on your crank or a smaller on the SC.
I remember i had 11 to 13psi of boost out of mine. And I think you can run a little bit higher but that will be on the limits of the amr500.
That's the thing with a blower, verry good and stong pull at low rpm's! Not having to wait for boost!

Re: AMR500 planning on a 1300cc - turning into a build thread
I do understand that a bigger pulley generally generates less boost, but I was thinking maybe with a larger pulley the boost will build a little later. Maybe I will make a new pulley just to see/feel the difference.
I am genreating about 7 psi of boost, so if you had 11 til 13 with the same setup, I wonder what the difference is.

I should mesure the diam. of the pulley's i had.
Will try to this afternoon

SC pulley is 60mm and crank pulley was the one in the scat serpentine pulley kit, can't mesure that since I sold that one...

How high did you rev it?

So that is 170mm.
