My chenowth 4lwd upgrades *Now Honda swap*

Post by fordfreak »

Hey guys I don't post much here, I was more of a lurker. It seems though there are more hardcore "do it yourself er's" here so I'll be attending the fun more often. :D

I've had this buggy for a couple years now and just started to have some time to really tear into it. I will be building all my suspension parts from scratch. Here are the plans I have for the buggy.
-New chromoly 6" beam with tube towers for a 2.0x10 coilover and 2.0x10 bypass.
-chromoly 4" front trailing arms
-3x5 chromoly microstub arms
-2.0x14 coilover and 2.5x16 bypass for the rear
-full fiberglass body
-2.5 turbo subaru
-some misc frame changes

Here are the 3x5 arms and fixture I made...

I used 4130 for everything on the arm except for the bearing flange. All the plate is .100". I cut all the parts on the band saw. Only the spring plate and bearing flange was laser'd.

That's a pretty slick fixture for the trailing arms!
Nice work!

Here's a breather/catch can I made...
The cap was made from solid and the can from tube. The lid and body meet with a matching taper and is air tight! :D

I filled the can with these plastic scours for my needed surface area...

Are they held together with just the taper, or did you use those set screws?

Thanks for the compliments guys! I love doing this stuff... too bad you cant make any real money doing it. ha no offense to the guys with shops.

The taper actually held really tight if you gave it a little tap, but I didnt want to rely on that so I put the set screws in. They just dig lightly into the can.
