Hello I think I got what you mean, try to loose the 2 bolts that keep the steering gear on the axle, then rotate it upwards and check how the shaft starts to clear the body, if you start changing the position relative to the axle while keepin an eye on the shaft you will get th epoint what you need to do, then you check how your tie rods sit and you will need alignment once again BUT in my opinion you have to see why initially you have this problem, you used shims between the axle and floorpan? check, decide, and act accordingly to fix it
