Would a cargo rack impact airflow into the engine?

I know that people have been doing it for years, but would the aerodynamics be messed up and impact the performance of my 69?

Opinion: I've seen two types of cargo racks on bugs: one over the engine cover, of the buggy and one on top. The one in the back, over the engine cover when empty... Eh but the weight and mass when loaded could be an effect.

The style on the top will change the air-flow a bit when empty (small tubes) but when full could/would not only change the air-flow but be a top side weight changing the balance... depending on size and weight. But... it probably depends on the amount of weight and the size of the load also.

People have been doing it for years so just be prepared on how much and how high. One of the buggy guys here (Clonebug) tows a small trailer on his strips.

Probably more than you wanted to know but...
