I was thinking of buying a Slime 40026 2X Heavy Duty Direct Drive Tire Inflator.
It requires a connection to the battery. Instead of having to raise/remove the back seat to get to the battery and make the connection I was thinking of connecting it to the big positive connection on the alternator that goes to the battery.
Would this be OK?

Opinion: I wouldn't do it myself. VW didn't put protection on that wire from the factory so, if there is a problem, you could have a bigger problem. Again, that is an opinion and, like all my opinions, it is probably worth less than you paid for it.

I have a 1973 VW Beetle.
It has a Bosch alternator with internal regulator.
I could add a 50A fuse at the terminal end of the big wire.

That is the "protection" I was talking about, A very wise idea in my opinion.

That is a decent power access point.
I see no harm in that, usual warnings of "its an old car" that when new wasn't designed with that in mind.

Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.

I think I will forget about connecting the inflator to the B+ terminal on the alternator and just lift the seat and connect it to the battery.
It was a pain for me to replace the alternator.
