Type 4 to 002 box
Hi here is my problem,
I have a 2L engine with a 228mm flywheel and a 002 301 103 transmission.
I was told i need several parts to convert the 002 bell-housing to an 091 bell-housing (input shaft, Bell-housing, etc), or the other way i could go would be to put a 200mm fly wheel on my 2L engine.
Now what i want to know is how to tell the difference from the 002 to the 091 bell-housing?
And what would be the best way to go either change to a 200mm flywheel or change the bell-housing?

IIRC you need the input shaft and bell housing off the 091. And starter.
I'd go with the 228 if you can, it's usually ~ a >1700 lb plate, with ~2x the wear area of a 200, which are essentially aftermarket/custom ONLY for the T4.
If a cast flywheel is OK for your app, just use a 210/215 from a bus in your 002. The Bus ones were all cast IIRC, many (most? All??) Vanagon ones were forged. Perhaps aftermarket (replacement?) ones were cast?
Best: use the whole 091 and the 228, it's stronger and has a taller final drive. I've always wanted to get a later Vanagon sideshifter one and set up a cable shift rig.
Also IIRC if you cut the wear surface back an extra .010", you will get more clamping force, stock 228 probably OK to 160 HP from all I have read.
(Someone please verify my memory)

Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

All you need is the input shaft bearing mod to the flywheel, and you are golden with the 215 and the 002.
(Just as Tristessa said)
Where might i find a 215 flywheel and what is the imput shaft bearing mod that is needed?
Any pre 78 Bay window bus (IIRC) and for the bearing mod, you have the center of the flywheel reamed to press fit in a T4 input shaft bearing, just like the one in the crank.
The one in the crank MUST COME OUT, or they will interfere.

Pile, I think that depends on *which* 002 he's got. Was it originally used with a T1 upright engine, or with a T4 pancake? I'm avoiding the "by year" distinctions because the_addoniss is in Oz and I'm not sure *what* they got in Busses and/or 411 & 412's down there.
Is there a sleeve around the transaxle input shaft? With a three-bolt flange attaching it? If there is you don't have to muck with it in that regard .. just do the bearing mod. If you need to. Which depends on what engine was on your transaxle originally.
The 215mm was used on the 1.8L T4 engines, the 210mm was on the 1.7L's. But watch out -- the 914 also had a 215mm flywheel but you don't want that one unless you're using a Porsche transaxle. Also, the 215mm used oddball bolts to attach the pressure plate .. make sure you get those too.

Any T4 powerd bus will do...
Try one of the larger auto supplies for a flywheel/pressure plate if you want new.
You may not need the input shaft mod if it had a T4 in it originally, it already has the longer input shaft.
Might want to replace the ebaring in the crank anyway.
