Hey, I have a question and it probably has been asked before. What is the difference in the Weber IDF"S and the Weber IDA's?

Thanks,

IDA's are just for racing and have no low speed circuit. Very Old but good design for all out power. IDF's have the idle circuit and can be purchased in the 48's Vic. www.1800vw.com

Race only? I run IDA's on the street without a problem. You need to drill a third progression hole that's all.

I put 1200 miles on my bug in 4 days last summer with IDAs. They even ran good going up a 11,300 foot mountain pass. I do have the 3rd hole.

IDFs use a rubber-diaphragm accelerator pump like "most" carbs; IDAs use a metal-in-metal piston pump so they can handle any fuel without worries of the diaphragms rotting.
Also the manifolds are different, the IDA's throttle bores are further apart than IDF/DRLAs'.

one is not better then the other, one is better for some applications and one is better for other applications.

Also, You are asking us to compare a $300 set of kadrons witha $1200 set of IDAs.

Why don't you give us an idea about your engine and how you will use it. Then you can get an intelligent answer.
