I want to use them they just don't want to fit the tubes. this is my first foray into to something like this I was told there are different size bushings which, i was not told about when i first bought these parts. So when i told a guy with a killer street bug the trouble i was having he told me about this site and said someone might have an idea what i might be doing wrong. I'm in the process of building a 63 baja bug from the ground up and i have all kinds of goodies to put on the bug. and will need some help now and then.

Yes, the urethane bushings or sleeves are not one size fits all. Measure the ID of the beam and order what you need. BTW welcome to the world of specialty aftermarket parts. Ask lots of questions befor you buy and be prepared to ask more after!

Maybe I am a throw-back but I try mainly to deal with my local VW specialty shop. I know them, they know me and if there are problems with my order they take care of it.

Usually the aftermarket beams is DOM or chromoly tube and the VW sized bushings do not fit. They will have to be machined to fit. This is typical of the "warrior" or "extreme" beams advertised on most magazines.

If it is not too much trouble, take the beam with you to the machine shop. Just have them take some dimensions and machine the bushings to fit. The vendor you purchased the beam from should have told you some "custom" work was necessary. Or should have been able to supply the correct bushings.

You could do as Bugpack suggests and sand down the bushing until it fits. LOL, no joke, I had the same problem with the front end bushings in the stock tube so I called them and that was there suggestion. A quick trip to the belt sander to gently remove the excess material (probally left over from the mold)and they fit like a glove.
almost all aftermarket parts require some fiddling to fit, I'd be amazed if I bought a part that didn't need to be reworked somehow before installation.
