Rear suspension
I have a swing axle rear end on my sand rail. A few months back I landed pretty hard and since then my rear suspension just isn't right. I pulled the rear shocks and replaced the 2 that were blown, checked the axle to make sure it was free with no binding and put it all back together. The left side is EXTREMELY stiff. When you bounce on the rear of the car the left front actually cones off the ground. I thought it might be a broken torsion but that would make the car sag and it sits level. What could be the problem? Bent torsion? Something binding? HELP!!!

You say you checked the axle and made sure it was free with no binding. The only outer thing to check is the wishbone. Make sure it is not bent. If they are not braced they bend farley easy, look closely and compare them to another torsion assy. Vic. www.vwhelp.com

Just for giggles and grins swap the shocks side to side and see if the problem moves over to the right.....

The shocks that were blown were one on each side. So there's 1 new and 1 old shock on each side.

So try it without the old (possibly slightly bent) shocks.
