I just put some reduction boxs on my baja and really don't like the hop that it does. Is there some way I can make the no hop kit. Actually how does it work and what does it connect to. Any pictures would be great. Thanks Alot Brian

I worked for a J. Johnson No Hop dealer and the only No Hop kit the our customers didn't break was the last version with the forged Corvette link. When that link breaks the brake line wraps arround the axle, the boot rips open and the shock breaks. Its really not a pretty picture.

So all I have to do is make a braket that bolts to the box and then weld a piviot housing to the torsion tube. With a link connecting it together. Do I have this right or am I way off?
Ok I belive i found out how this works. I was thinking this while I was trying to go to sleep. The spring plate bolts to a tube that slides over the axel tube then the torque bar bolts to the torsion housing and the bottom of the gear box. Please tell me this is right. Also what if you weld the plate that holds the spring plate to the reduction box housing and still use the torque bar. Will that work or does the spring plate need to pivot. Thanks A bunch Brian

The bug I had with gear redux did that about six times. Usually when on some insane hillclimb that instantly translated into having no brakes.
I liked the way that thing would tractor around but all else sucked. I would not do it again but I have talked to people that would never give it up.
The control arm comes back at an angle. It is a bit hard to see in the pics but it is that angle that helps control the hop. Couln't say just what that angle is but I would think anything is better than nothing.

Mark, Thanks for the pictures. Those will be very helpfull. I just got the baja running and really don't like the hopping it does. I was going around a nice sweeping corner in 2nd gear a stomped on it, and guess what happend. That thing just started bouncing alround. Right then I was just about ready to tear the boxs off. I do like the clearence and the gearing now. I think i am going to have to change my whole mounting braket. Thanks Again Mark for all the good info. Brian

Well at least you had the right idea once. The pivoting coller is important. A bus IRS is a better solution for gearing and if you use longer arms you get as much or more clearance. Even with the "no hop" you never lose the torque reaction that trys to unload the tires when climbing.

Has anyone else seen the kit that rotates the boxes on the spring plate to do the same thing? I remember afriends buggy years ago where we used altered spring plates to lay the boxes down a little bit to reduce the hop and lift when you tromped on it. Cant remember where we stole the idea from HVWS or somewhere. Lost a little height in the rear but really seemed to help. Its been all of 15 years ago so i dont remember it that well anymore.
