I know this has been covered before, but I need some suggestions on pre oiling before I start the new motor up. I do have a external oil filter.

Thanks

I know of a product that is out there that I would really like to try out.

It looks like a can of fix-a-flat, but is filled with motor oil, and the fitting on the other end of the hose will screw in where the oil pressure sender goes. Unload a can of oil in there, and you're sure to get oil to everywhere you need it to be prior to startup.

I've pumped oil into the oil lines (when full flowed) until oil came out the drain plug before, and that worked fine.

If you don't have access to either of those options, then you can just pull your spark plugs out, and crank the engine until the oil light goes out. Put the plugs back in, and fire it up.

I cant remember which forum posted it but someone uses a pump up insecticide sprayer, pump up oil instead of water and put it into the oil sender switch hole

That was posted somewhere on this forum, a search might bring it up.

I just pull the rocker assemblies and spark plugs, and crank for oil pressure. try to limit the cranking sessions to 45 seconds or so, as to not overheat the starter motor. I pull the rockers as to not wipe all the cam lube off the lobes. Sometimes the pressure won't come up after three or four trys, and I have to prime the pump through the output oil hose (on a full flow oiling system motor), and turn the engine backward to fill the oil pump cavity with oil. Re-connect the hose then crank some more until the gage shows something over 20psi or tops out somewhere. Re-assemble the rockers and plugs, crank it up. It's a pretty common way to do it.
