New TI case (Aluminum)

Post by MASSIVE TYPE IV »

I heard about these, supposedly they are a direct knockoff of a mag TI case.

I found the importer of these and got one of the first ones coming this way, they sold 100 in the first hour they announced them. They do not use through bolts:-( to hold the case halves together.

I ordered one of them for testing, I will be one of the first to build a performance engine (2332) with it, for test purposes and thrashing only.. The engine will make 200HP @11.5:1

I plan on attacking it with a Mike as soon as it gets here and remachining the sloppiness after it is cleared for stroke...They are cheap and made in brazil, the machining will be the biggest truth, then will come the test work at the track.

I will let you all know as soon as I get it.

I played with them last weekend. Here's the deal

Thick webbed. 8mm Case savers already installed. Includes the PU tube, and has the grooved cam plug already done. These weigh 15 lbs MORE than a magnesium case. If anyone wants to be a guinea pig, I have them for $300ea (NO guarantee), they are setup for 85.5mm bore out of the box.

Well that sounds cool to me John....The only thing I warranty is what I build anyway...At this point I'm not getting hopes up until I mike the hell out of it, it will probably look like it is bleeding when I'm done with it...The case decks should be nice to check out, the new mag cases are terriable..

It'll be on the street/track in one month, it won't be totally proven till alot of street miles...

These things are so damn cheap, if they only had through bolts...Oh well I might hate them when I get it and check it out, most new stuff is junk, and must be totally remachined to have half the chance at being right.

$535 at aircooled.net, all the options.

$350 for a guaranteed case (hard to beat on an untested case).
$50 for 94s
$60 for stroke clearancing
$75 for full flow and oil galley work.

Add shuffle pins, a flange cut and Type 4 mains and you've got yourself a case!

Jake:
Couldn't you just make - convert the case to through bolts? I have not seem them but I would say you have everything to do it..

I used to do machine work.. Just bore a hole through, mill a flat spot and use a bolt and nut?

That would do it?

The shuffle pins are a bad idea with tghis case...The problem with it *may* be that it will not flex enough and thats bad. In the aviation industry wings are made to felx, else they snap off, the same thing may happen with this case, since it is more rigid and has less flex made into it.

The throughbolts cannot be added, because the main oil galley is directly in the way, I already tried that...

This case is just like an as41, but pure aluminum...

Only time will tell, I'm gonna give it pure hell, guilty until proven innocent!

Shuffle pins, Yuck! Not required and I have seen the same things as John. Plus I've seen brand new cases that were pinned and then HAD to be line bored to get the crank to rotate freely, can you say Junk?

Concerning the case, I'm from Missorie (sp), the "show me" state. By the time I start shopping for a new T1 case, the verdict will be in on at least three new cases.

PS, and NEVER weld behind #3, total distortion..
