the AL case should be much stronger than the stock mag case (BTW stock T1 case is actually an alloy of mag and aluminum called elektron)

Thanks

This would be my choice.
CB performance will be selling these too.

This is from Dean Kristen/Hot VWs editor
posted this morning on the CLF.

NEW ALUMINUM TYPE 1 CASE

Well, I saw one, I touched it, and it (they) do exists. Looks like a winner to me. Plan to see these babies about late Spring early Summer. Should change the way we build hi-po (Type 1) VW engines from now on. All the Type 1 mounts/specs, +15-lbs. over stock (mag) case, extra material here and there, 8mm inserts, and the price will be right ($499 or less). Two versions will come out about the same time.

Yes, The CASE is here and being tested. It will become available sometime this
Spring or Summer. We are going to try to keep the price under 500.00 retail. It
will be preclearanced and number 3 web is solid. They will come in all bore
sizes. Watch for a story in one of the VW MAGS soon!

Anyone interested in a new RIMCO prepped supercase.
It's been:
* clearanced for an 84mm
* opened for 94's
* welded behind #3
* shuffled pinned
* tapped for fullflow
* tapped just below distributor for
dedicated turbocharger oiling
* 10mm case savers

It may be 4-sell once I've gotten a look at one of these new aluminum babies.
A question for Empified.
* Will an 84mm drop right in...excluding cam
clearancing of course?
* Any plans for a spread bore version for
possible larger than 94mm p/c.

Looking forward to it!

Thanks for the replay, what did your case cost? I sounds like a good one. Have you been able to find anything on the new aluminum to read or looks at is specs?

More good info from Rick at CB performance in regards to the new aluminum case:

"The Case is clearanced for 84 stroke and is also drilled for Full Flow. The test
Engine is a 94X84 with 5.700 2.0" Chevy journal CB Super Race Rods."

Better get inline boys I've already got my $$$$'s for this bad boy. Empified.........

Well now that is a good pice of info, it is the engine i want to build. So I know this is stating the obdious but the new aluminum case is stronger?? but wount it expand more and make the heads and suck at a diffrent rate of expanction? But it sounds good as most are excited about it. Will this case be strong enough to with stand top fuels? Dreaming i guess. Thanks for the info.

Considering that the TypeIV & Porsche cases are aluminum I wouldn't think this would be an issue for the new aluminum typeI case.

On this case do you know if the cam has been moved so there is more room for larger stroke?

Thanks
