What should I use to seal my case? What is good to paint the case with and does it matter if the paint gets inside the case like where the cylinders set or any other opening?

I use a thin layer of Hylomar to seal the cases. No paint should be on the flanges or in the cylinder bores or on any other mounting flanges or bosses. I used a top quality high temp. engine spray paint that contains ceramic to paint my case. The one I used was good to 1200 degrees F a bit of an overkill. But, It gave excellent results. Best regards, Clark.

I use Permatex aviation H3 to seal cases. There is probably something better out there though. I think John @ aircooled.net has some new stuff that is getting good reviews. I don't have any suggestions on the paint. I don't do it. Good luck, Tim

I just used Wurth DP130 on my engine. It squeezes out blue, and this is what VW is using right now in the new aircooled Bugs in Mexico. The only problem is you gotta work fast, it sets up in 10 min.

I Found the Wurth Dp 300 drys too quick and ends up in the strainer, I use curil K2 or wurth Green joint sealer . {expensive}

there are a lot of good sealers I'm aware of.

Yamabond (yamaha dealer), Curil T OR Curil K2, Hylomar, Aviation, etc. I use Curil T or Yamabond

I used to use Aviation, but it's a PITA to clean up, and I don't like the smell.

I have use International (truck corporation) grey rubber RTV with great success. It is rubber, not silicone and I have never had a leak from the case halves, deep sump, sump plate with this. I even lost a couple of nuts from the sump plate and did not have any leaks...But it is a PITA (as john says) to clean up/remove.
