She's Running!

Post by Matt Keene »

At last some major progress on the race car project. As you can glean from the pic, I have gone darkside and have opted for a 2.1 Wasserboxer that used to power Marco's (the turbo steam engine) race Bug.

In his car it produced 413 hp. Marco and I have been flat out over the last week and have got her running. Marco concentrated on the electrical side of things and ECU, injectors and manifolds whilst I made the plenum, chargecooler, exhaust and wastegate system, radiator and header tank. The motor now has a massive Holset turbo that should flow much more than the T3/T4 hybrid that was used on this engine previously.

Should be going to the dyno in the not too distant future to do the mapping etc.

She sounds meaner than your average junk yard dog!

A huge thank you is in order from me to Marco - yo da man!

Looks pretty slick.

I particularly like the way the radiator is setup, but also interested in seeing what you did for the charge cooler.

I've seen that chargecooler on eBay, could you post some figures on inlet temps and outlet temps ( in other words , the efficiency ) when you are done testing? :D

Looks GREAT!
How much space is there betweek your plenum piped and the intake manifolds? The pics make it seem like a LOT and if so, those things are going to balloon like mad!
