high ccm oxy info.

Post by bang »

hello all.
looking for some info about an 2387 or lager oxy.

we are going to build an oxy to use on my buggy for drag race.

the first plan was to build an 86x94mm 2387ccm with jpm heads/msd6 and 51,5 jay cee cabs. i allredy ordered an 86mm dpr fullcircle wbx crankshaft..

but now we talked ubout going 2780ccm 86x101,6 instead.

anyone running that size oxy? :?:

Hi. Bang. I have built a number of 2600cc or larger air cooled boxer blocked engines. Go to www.rockyjennings.com You can look at what I have done. Rocky

Can you let us in on those photos of your engine and also tell us of what is necessary to do such a build.

hey all.
the plan now is to go. 86x4" so its going to be the 2780ccm
jpm in sweden is making his ms230 head in 4".

Rolf here in this site is helping with the work.

my plan is to run it with a set of 51,5 jay-cee and then MSD 6 on it.

to pocketrocket. i have seen your website many times and i thing it is wery good. do you think it will be a good idea to use a bigger oilsump?.
and do you think an 1 7/8" header is the size for that engine?
my plan was to use an fk89 cam, or would you use another one?

Bang's engine ran VEY strong for two hours, then the bolts and dowelll pin snaped and the flywheel came off     One the very first full throttle launch (RPM limiter set at 7K)it all went wrong. After some very silent minuttes in the garage we pulled the engine out and got it disasembled. The crank and flywheel are dead, but all the rest is OK. A new crank has been ordered and we are looking at better clutch set up. We was at the SCC event in Norway and saw that a some guys having problems with slippering clutches and broken or overheated pressure plates. We talked to Ron Lummus as he was there an he came up with a solution for Bang's engine.
More later !!

BTW Fastback, you got a very COOL car that kept on surprising us all, huge burn outs and low ET's from a true street car, keep on !!!!!

-Sorry to hear this Rolf. :(
Did u run it at SCC??
Which car??
So u are using 8 dowell type 1 crank then?
or do u use the 86 DPR crank??
BAS bolts?
Extra dowels??

(Thx for your nice words on my square :)
THe car run all wekend without any issues either on engine or tranny.
best ET 12.20@185Kp/h on my 2380lbs heavy car...on real street tyres.)

No we did'nt make it to SCC with the car, but we where there to have good time and we did !!! The car is a 62 bug with a type 2 close ratio transmission and the car is a super street car with full roll cage, fuel cell etc. The crank is a 86 mm Demello welded stroker crank with 5 BS bolts and 5 8mm dowell pins. We found the problem: The Oring in the flywheel was cut a little bit during assembly and a piece of it got between the mating surfaces of the crank and flywheel. So after some time all the bolts lost their torque and came loose, the rest is history  So a 2 dollar Oring took us down and made door stops out of parts worth 2000 dollars...... Offering to the god of speed.
